| These solid phenolic table tops are a cousin to the long established SM molded laminate tops, but with a 100% phenolic core. Manufactured in sheets, the top's melamine surfaces have all of the resistance to scratching, chemicals and weather that you are used to with SM table tops. The tops are 1/2" thick with a self edge in polished natural phenolic and are completely resistant to water, even with prolonged immersion. Atcotec table tops are completely flat, resistant to fading and due to the density of the substrate, exceedingly difficult to scratch. This material is known for use as building facade panels, lockers, partitions and laboratory tops. Atcotec tops are a step up when durability is required and are even more resistant than natural materials like granite. What is phenolic? Phenolic is a hard, dense material made by applying heat and pressure to layers of paper or glass cloth impregnated with synthetic resin. When heat and pressure are applied to the layers, a chemical reaction (polymerization) transforms the layers into a high-pressure thermosetting industrial laminated plastic. |
